European Conference 2012

We arrived at Gatwick on a cold, damp October morning – flip-flops packed, and sun cream at the ready. This year’s LCCSA conference was being held in Malaga on the southern coast of Spain, with the weather forecast predicting sunny skies and soaring temperatures. For once, the forecasters got it right.

Working through the Riots

I was on call, as part of the Tower Bridge duty solicitor scheme, on the night of 8 August, 2011. I had been at work all day and went to bed around 11.30pm. Shortly after midnight, the first call came. By the morning, I had been on the phone almost constantly, dealing with a slew of cases. Unbelievably, Bob, from the defence solicitors’ call centre, and I were on first-name terms.
